I’m with you on winter, it lasts into April here, and it’s difficult not to internalize the bleakness, which feels like lifelessness. Birds are necessary during these times! Glad the starlings were there as companions along with the doughty ponies.

Thanks Carmine, I think it may be over! We've just had the most beautiful weekend of light. We watched curlews and lapwings, egrets and bitterns. I'm writing about it now and will post this weekend. J

I loved this piece, James. And that second photograph where the edge of the pool almost exactly mirrors the edge of the hill is sublime. I think the quiet, apparently unassuming places have so much to show us; I'm with you in loving 'beautiful negative space'.
